When you don\u2019t know what you\u2019re feeling\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>

• Give yourself grace and journal. If you don\u2019t have a journal, open up a Word\/Google doc, grab a piece of printer paper, rip a page out of your kid\u2019s notebook, write on the back of the grocery receipt. The medium doesn\u2019t matter. Your words matter.<\/li>\n\n
• If writing feels unnerving, try speaking it out loud. Go for a walk or talk out loud while you\u2019re driving. There are all kinds of speech-to-text apps available.<\/li>\n\n
• The most important thing is to not judge yourself as you process. Don\u2019t think what someone else will think. Don\u2019t worry about what you will think when you\u2019re reading this journal entry in 2 years. Don\u2019t stress that the words aren\u2019t right, just write.<\/li>\n\n
• Sometimes we don\u2019t know what we\u2019re feeling because we play the oppression game, \u201cWell, it\u2019s not as bad as somebody else.\u201d That\u2019s true AND you get to have your feelings validated. Writing is an excellent way to capture all the chaos inside and make something beautiful out of it.<\/li><\/ul>

  When you don\u2019t have time\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>

  • Most of our day is spent in transition: waking up to making coffee, getting ready for work to driving, the first meeting to the first break, driving home to making dinner, working out to showering, etc. All those transitions are beautiful opportunities to write. Choose 1 and go!<\/li>\n\n
  • Set yourself an alarm or build in time on your calendar. Block out 5 minutes for a quick write or 10 minutes to journal.<\/li>\n\n
  • Multitask\u2014use writing as a way to decompress during your lunch break, use a speech-to-text app to capture your thoughts on your commute to work, write next to your kids as they\u2019re doing their homework. <\/li><\/ul>

    When you don\u2019t want to write alone\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>

    • Join Solano Writers Society every Wednesday evening at 7pm PT!<\/li>\n\n
    • Start talking about writing with your friends, coworkers, family; chances are, there are other writers around you who are part of a community or would be excited to join you. <\/li>\n\n
    • Seek out local writing groups online and on social media. We\u2019re in such a virtual space that you won\u2019t be alone for long.<\/li><\/ul>

      When writing isn\u2019t your #1 passion\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>

      • Know that it doesn\u2019t have to be! Writing is a tool that you can pick up and put down. It\u2019s there when you need it. <\/li>\n\n
      • Think about why you showed up to \u201cLove notes for your soul: the healing power of writing.\u201d We are catalyzed to write for different reasons and they don\u2019t need to be the same each time.<\/li>\n\n
      • Change up the format! Perhaps when you\u2019re hurt, you prefer to journal. But when you\u2019re feeling excited, maybe a song or a poem is a better fit.<\/li><\/ul>
